Celebrity Poker: Jessica Simpson

I think half the celebrities in the world must play poker, as can be seen on various TV shows specially devoted to this, now they're heading up for the celebrity charity poker tournaments. One of the promising scorching hot celebrity poker player now with the flash texas hold'em poker game endorser is Jessica Simpson.

Jessica Simpson used to be famous for being the believable virgin of the turn-of-the-millennium teenage pop sensations; she's more famous these days for being "sexual napalm", thanks to ex-boyfriend John Mayer's remarks to Playboy. For better or for worse, Jessica Simpson's ex-boyfriend John Mayer beat her to the punch when he told Playboy magazine in an interview that Simpson was "sexual napalm." Simpson responded to Mayer's remarks on Oprah by saying that, she doesn't “want people to know how [she’s] in bed.” Fair enough.

With this background, it was only normal for young Jessica Simpson to participate in church activities and so she sang in the choir. Such was her gift that at the age of 12, she auditioned for The Mickey Mouse Club. When she reached the finals, she froze and choked completely. Unfortunately, she didn't get the job.

Jessica Simpson sang and sold her home-recorded album after performances. This was a winning formula and while she was still in junior high, Jessica was performing with famous gospel acts like Kirk Franklin and Ce Ce Winans. It wasn't only Christian music fans who got into her music; pop lovers everywhere were being charmed by her voice. This was just the encouragement Jessica needed to pursue a middle-of-the-road pop music career. Sure enough, news of Jessica's success reached important people in the industry. Tommy Mottola of Columbia Records/Sony Music was one of them and he was stunned by Jessica Simpson's voice and skills.

After signing up with the music giant, her debut album, Sweet Kisses, was released in 1999, giving way to the singles "I Wanna Love You Forever" and "I Think I'm In Love With You." She then hit the road and showed audiences worldwide what the Jessica Simpson craze was all about. Jessica Simpson joined boy band 98 Degrees on its tour and it didn't take long for her to fall in love with one of its members, Nick Lachey. Their budding romance only helped the release of their duet, "Where You Are," of Sweet Kisses.

In June 2001, her sophomore album Irresistible was released. The title track was a smash hit and it went as high as No. 3 on the Top 40 chart. After some remixes, her third album In This Skin was released in August 2003. However, Jessica Simpson's life was about to take a drastic turn. Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey finally got married in October 2002, and the celebrity marriage was rejoiced in gossip columns everywhere. As a result, MTV offered the couple a reality show based on their everyday life as a couple, much like The Osbournes.

The deal was struck and August 2003 marked the debut of Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica. Although the show overshadowed Jessica Simpson's new album, it became an incredible hit and it was picked up for second and third seasons.

Around the time of her marriage to Nick, Jessica Simpson appeared in three episodes of That '70s Show between 2002 and 2003 as Kelso's love interest. She also appeared on The Twilight Zone in 2002, all of which led the way for her 2005 big-screen debut wearing sexy "Daisy Dukes" in the film version of The Dukes of Hazzard (costarring Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott). The film coincided with the release of Jessica Simpson's remake of Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made For Walking." In 2006, she appeared in Dane Cook's film Employee of the Month.

Celebrity Poker Player: Dean Cain

Poker is having an increase in charisma owing to tournaments taking place on television plus the expansion of the game online, and the topmost ranked players are swiftly going up to celebrity status.

When Dean Cain is not in front of a camera he can be found at a poker table. Imagine how cool it would be to tell your friends you beat Superman at a poker table.

Last year, Dean Cain together with Jamie Gold hold an “Operathion All-In” poker tournament the benefit raises money and awareness for the wounded soldiers and their families.

The poker tournament is a $550 buy-in no-limit Texas Hold’em poker game. The benefit also had a silent auction and live DJ for the public’s entertainment. Part of the funds are also going to the Xtreme Couture GI Foundation, which is run by Randy Couture.

In addition, Some of the players were celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Montel Williams, Phil Gordon, Hoyt Corkins and Kirk Morrison showed their support for the soldiers .

More than a hundred players showed up to support the foundation and American soldiers; which was successful in raising more than $90,000.

Also, Dean Cain also took part at the 3rd Annual Ante Up For Africa Poker Tournament, Rio Hotel And Casino, Las Vegas with other celebrities like Ben affleck, Matt Damon, Sarah Silverman, Jennifer Tilly, Brad Garnett, Jason Alexander, Mike Tyson and a lot more!

About Dean Cain: Dean Cain who is best known for his role as Superman in the TV series Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and as the host of Ripley's Believe It Or Not.

Dean Cain's portrayal of Superman was also notable for having the reverse of the traditional distinction in hairstyles between Clark Kent and Superman; here, it is Superman who has the slicked-back hair, and Clark whose fringe falls more naturally, perhaps to reinforce the notion that Kent is the 'genuine' personality whereas Superman is the artificial disguise.

He also attended the 2nd annual HatcH audiovisual festival in Bozeman, MT in October 2005. HatcH is a film and arts festival whose mission is to provide mentorship, education, inspiration, and recognition to the next generation of creative innovators. Cain was a guest of honor on the red carpet for his new movie, LOST.

Dean Cain is among a host of stars who have teamed up to pledge their support for environmental awareness. He took part in the Explore Your Environment campaign in collaboration with several clothing manufacturer in 2004.

Dean Cain also starred in several films, including Grapevine, A Different World and Beverly Hills 90210, The Broken Hearts Club, Out of Time , Bailey's Billions, In 2004, he portrayed Scott Peterson in the fact-based made for television movie The Perfect Husband: The Laci Peterson Story. Recently he has appeared in a recurring role on Las Vegas as Casey Manning.

Most of the celebrities have considerable experience playing in poker tournaments, but the question remains as to whether or not they can stand up to the real poker pros or the killer online poker players who have been making a name for themselves over the past few years. Best way to get in on the action is to bet on it!

Celebrity Poker Player: Matthew Perry

Matthew Perry Poker

The popularity of poker is not limited to the average person. Many television and movie celebrities have entered into the poker arena also. Do not believe these stars are merely decoration at the poker table. Many of these celebrities are fierce competitors. But these celebrities are merely the start of it!

Matthew Perry Poker

There are more celebrity poker players than you perhaps think there are. Most actors that were involved in gambling movies developed a keen interest, many celebs play at special tournaments that raise money for different causes and some stars just gamble for fun!

Matthew Perry Poker

Stars don't get much bigger than the cast of "Friends." As we all know, too, Matthew Perry seems to like getting himself addicted to things, and according to an interview I read somewhere, online gambling and online poker are Matthew Perry's new addictions.

Matthew Perry Poker

There's nothing more satisfying than winning a stash of money from one of your best friends, so when Matthew Perry and his comedy co-star David Schwimmer go head-to-head on TV's American Celebrity Poker Showdown it's a sight to behold.

Matthew Perry Poker

Celebrity Poker Showdown kicked of its second season on Thursday May 27th on the Bravo cable network. The inaugural season last year was such a huge success that this year the show has been expanded to two hours. “Celebrity Poker Showdown” is produced by Picture This Television in association with Bravo.

Each episode of "Celebrity Poker Showdown" features five celebrities competing against each other for a piece of the $250,000 Cingular Wireless prize pool in a game of No Limit Texas Hold'em poker for the charity of their choice.

Seated at the table was Matthew Perry, Country Music star Travis Tritt, actors Sean Astin, Rosario Dawson,Lauren Graham, Sarah Silverman and football great, Jerome Bettis. Pro Poker player Phil Gordon was giving them some instructions and advice for playing No Limit Texas Hold’em.

There were several other stars relaxing at the tables in the room waiting for a turn at the practice poker table. As the time for the tournament approached, all the celebrities scheduled for the first match were escorted from the green room to the set in the Key West Room.

Matthew Perry Poker

Even though he is rumored to be a heavy online gambler, Matthew Perry spent a private VIP weekend at the Bellagio casino in Las Vegas, where a casino host arranged it so that everywhere he would go; he went through back entrances and was seated in private areas.

Matthew Perry was knocked out in the very first round of Celebrity Poker Showdown's first show in 2004. He almost got through and win the 'gold chip' in his next try but was denied this time by Mekhi Phifer.

The actor admitted that he has problems with the way he plays his cards in poker because he hums to himself whenever he has a good hand.

"If I have good cards, I start humming 'Kansas' Dust in the Wind' and I'm just trying to get away from that.” Matthew Perry stated.
