Kate Winslet Split From Director Husband Sam Mendes

Kate Winslet, the 34-year-old British actress, has split from her husband, the 44-year-old director Sam Mendes, after nearly seven years of marriage, according to reports.

"Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year. The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children. They ask that the media respect the privacy of the family." their lawyers said in a statement Monday.

Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes married in May 2003. The couple have a 6-year-old son together. Winslet also has a 9-year-old daughter from her first marriage to Jim Threapleton.
